Project CARS 3 represents a significant evolution for the franchise, pivoting from a hardcore professional racing simulator to a more approachable and progression-focused racing title. This installment focuses heavily on the "driver’s journey," offering a robust and structured Career Mode that guides you through various racing tiers. You start by purchasing a modest road car and gradually earn Experience Points (XP) and Credits to upgrade your vehicle or buy faster, more exotic machinery, eventually competing in high-stakes GT world championships.

The gameplay experience has been redesigned to be more welcoming to players using controllers, featuring a refined handling model that feels more intuitive than previous entries while still offering depth for those using racing wheels. A major addition to this sequel is the deep car customization system, allowing you to modify your vehicles both visually and mechanically. You can change liveries, rims, and tires, or dive under the hood to upgrade the air intake, suspension, and engine components to improve your car’s Performance Index (PIR).
