The Dying World of Lothric
The game is set in the collapsing Kingdom of Lothric, where the world is slowly nearing its end, symbolized by the convergence of the kingdoms of the previous Lords of Cinder. The First Flame, the source of light and life, is fading.

You assume the role of the Ashen One, an Unkindled (a failed recipient of the flame) who has risen from the grave. Your quest is to track down and return the four Lords of Cinder (who have shirked their duty) to their thrones at Firelink Shrine, so that the flame can be linked once more—or find a way to end the age of fire forever.
